Privacy Policy For Amar Lipi

Amar Lipi is a Chrome extension that applies Bangla fonts to websites. It does not collect, store on a server, or share any personal data.

What The Extension Stores

Only on your device, in the browser’s local extension storage:

  • the font you chose for each website, and your default font
  • your theme choice (system, light or dark)
  • a few “already seen” flags for the menu and the 21 February feature

None of this leaves your browser. Uninstalling the extension deletes it, and “Clear Data” in the menu deletes it on demand.

What It Does Not Collect

No usage analytics, no tracking, no accounts, no cookies. The extension never reads, stores or sends the text of the pages you visit; it only wraps Bangla text in a styled element on your own screen.

Network Requests

The extension contacts a third party only to load fonts, and to play one song:

  • Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com)
  • font hosts for the other fonts: fonts.maateen.me, cdn.jsdelivr.net, banglawebfonts.pages.dev
  • archive.org, only if you play the 21 February song

These requests contain the font or file being requested. Like any web request, they expose your IP address to that host, under its own privacy policy.

This Website

amarlipi.zibon.design has no accounts or forms. To show the fonts, it loads them from the same hosts as the extension (Google Fonts, fonts.maateen.me, cdn.jsdelivr.net, banglawebfonts.pages.dev), and those hosts can see your IP address. The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver and protect it.

To understand how the site is used, it runs two analytics services:

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies and without tracking you across sites. It records aggregate data such as page views, referrers and page load times.
  • Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_XZKXW59BGL) that tell a returning browser apart from a new one. It records the pages you view, how you arrived, how long you stay, your browser, device and screen size, and your approximate location (city or country), which Google works out from your IP address and doesn’t store. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy. The site doesn’t send Google your name, email or anything you type, and doesn’t use this data for advertising. You can block these cookies in your browser, or opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Besides those cookies, the only thing the site saves is your light or dark theme choice, in your own browser.

None of this applies to the extension, which has no analytics.

Permissions

  • All sites (<all_urls>): to apply your font on any page you visit.
  • activeTab, tabs, scripting: to apply, reset and detect the font on the current tab.
  • storage: to remember your choices.

Children

The extension is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, this page and the “Last updated” date change with it.
