What Does Amar Lipi Do?
It replaces the Bangla font on every website with one you pick. English and every other script stay exactly as the site designed them.
Which Browsers Does It Work In?
Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera and other Chromium browsers on desktop. It doesn't run on Firefox, Safari or mobile browsers, since those don't support Chrome extensions.
Which Fonts Can I Choose From?
28 Bangla fonts from Google Fonts, maateen.me, Soroborno and shahid.pro. You can see all of them here.
Why Do I See Fewer Fonts On Facebook And Reddit?
Those sites block fonts from every host except Google Fonts, so Amar Lipi offers only the 8 Google fonts there. Every other font still works on other sites.
Can I Use Different Fonts On Different Sites?
Yes. Apply a font to the site you're on, or use "Apply To All Sites" to set a default. A font you set for one site always wins over the default.
How Do I Undo It?
Open Amar Lipi from the toolbar and click "Reset This Site", or "Reset All Sites" to remove every font. "Clear Data" in the menu removes everything Amar Lipi has stored.
Does It Change Text While I Type?
On most sites Amar Lipi leaves text boxes alone so typing tools like Avro work normally. On Facebook your chosen font also shows while you type.
Does It Track Me?
No. There are no analytics, no accounts and no cookies. Your font choices stay in your browser. The privacy policy lists the few requests it makes, all of them to load fonts.
Will It Slow Down My Browser?
No. Fonts load once and the browser caches them, and Amar Lipi only touches Bangla text.
Does It Fix Broken Bangla, Like Wrong Conjuncts?
No. It changes the font, not how the browser shapes the text. Some fonts do render conjuncts more cleanly than the system font, though.
